ALAS Scholarship

Submission Deadline: June 15, 2026

The ALAS Scholarship is for $10,000 and is available to all current dues paying ALAS members seeking to continue their advanced degree program in education in a college or university with the goal of becoming a superintendent!

The scholarship is made payable to the recipients’ institution of higher learning and will be awarded during the Annual ALAS National Summit on Education in the fall.

Eligibility & How to Apply

  • Applicants must be a current dues-paying member of ALAS National.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in, or accepted into, an advanced degree program in education (subject to verification).

A Complete Application Packet Will Include:

Item 01

Application Form

Completed scholarship application form (available via the submission tool below).

Item 02

Personal Statement

A 1000-word or less personal statement that addresses all fields of the required writing prompt.

Item 03

Professional Resume

An updated resume detailing your professional experience and leadership in education.

Item 04

Brief Biography

A short biography summarizing your personal and professional journey.

Item 05

Letters of Recommendation

Three (3) letters of recommendation. Must include one from a professor or supervisor.

Optional

Report Card / Transcripts

Report card with current and cumulative GPA. (This item is optional but encouraged).

The deadline for all applications will be June 15th, 2026.

Describe how excellence shows up in your leadership, your work, and your commitment to students and families.

Supporting Your Journey

How will receiving the ALAS scholarship support your professional growth and leadership journey?

Be specific about how the funds will be used (e.g., certification, advanced degree, research, conference participation, leadership development, policy engagement, etc.).

Criteria 03

Giving Back to the Familia

How do you plan to give back to ALAS and the broader ALAS familia as a scholarship recipient?

In what ways will you contribute your time, talent, and voice to strengthen ALAS programs, mentorship pipelines, advocacy efforts, state affiliates, or future academies?

Criteria 04

Future Impact

Looking ahead, how will your leadership help elevate excellence for Latino students and educational communities nationwide?

  • Include your current role, years in education, and ALAS affiliation (if applicable).
  • Clearly articulate both your professional goals and your commitment to reciprocal leadership within ALAS.
