Elevating Excellence means strengthening leadership pipelines, advancing educational equity, and building systems that uplift Latino students, families, and educators. Excellence is not measured solely by growth … it is measured by impact, collaboration, sustainability, and service to others.

The ALAS State Affiliate of the Year Award recognizes an affiliate that exemplifies collective leadership, measurable results, and a deep commitment to elevating excellence within their state and across the national ALAS network.

ALAS Excellence Network

If selected as State Affiliate of the Year, the affiliate will join the ALAS Excellence Network and will have the following responsibilities throughout the 2026-2027 year:

Conduct and host a National Excellence Webinar (60–90 minutes)
Publish an excellence brief on behalf of ALAS sharing best practices
Recruit minimum 10 new members to ALAS in 2026-2027
Be willing to serve as a mentor to existing aspiring affiliates
Be willing to present an affiliate masterclass during a State Affiliate Leaders Conclave
Be willing to host an in-person ALAS State Affiliate Leaders Meeting
