The MILLER PLACE SCHOOL DISTRICT, located on the north shore of Long Island in Suffolk County, New York, is seeking a new Superintendent of Schools.  The 2,318 students in the Miller Place School District are enrolled in 2 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school.  The district, which serves a diverse student body, has a long tradition of high-achieving scholars and has a community that is very supportive of the school district and all its children.  The district places a strong emphasis on providing programs that meet the needs of all its learners.  In addition to a strong academic program, the district has excellent programs for students with special needs & those interested in the arts & athletics.

Stakeholders are committed to excellence and want a leader with a student-centered philosophy who will build upon the district’s many accomplishments and successes while respecting the school and community cultures and their student-centered vision. The successful candidate for this will be:

  • A fully transparent leader, always acting ethically, empathetically and with integrity
  • An excellent communicator, orally and in writing, with students, parents, staff and community
  • Highly visible and actively engaged within the school district and community
  • An accomplished administrator, preferably with experience as a teacher, building and central office administrator
  • Skilled in fiscal management, instructional leadership, and long-term planning 

New York State certification as a School District Leader or School District Administrator is required, and the School Board is offering a regionally-competitive salary.
