José Escribano
José Escribano is a proud graduate of Springfield Public Schools and a dedicated champion for equity, family engagement, and student success. With more than two decades of experience, he has served as a counselor, principal, Chief of Family and Community Engagement, and now as Assistant Superintendent of Community Engagement, Family Empowerment, and Partnerships for Springfield Public Schools.
José earned his degree in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, a master’s in School Adjustment and Mental Health Counseling, and is completing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Bay Path University, where his research focuses on building trust with families through Family Systems Theory.
Leading a district of over 24,000 students, José oversees departments that drive collaboration, innovation, and inclusion. He has modernized systems, strengthened communication, and deepened family partnerships to ensure every student thrives.
A nationally recognized thought leader, José shares his expertise on equity-driven leadership and community-centered school improvement across the country. Guided by the ALAS mission to inspire, connect, and develop Latino leaders, he believes that strong schools begin with strong communities—and that lasting change grows from empowering families and educators to lead together.
