Charlotte County Public Schools (CCPS) in Charlotte County, Florida is an outstanding school district that serves over 16,000 students and is the county’s largest employer with more than 2,300 staff members. Our district has 21 schools, a technical college and two (2) charter schools. CCPS is committed to providing a high-quality education for all students and is constantly working to improve and innovate to meet the needs of our students. Charlotte County is located in beautiful SW Florida, is a community that enjoys many recreational activities including fishing and boating, and is served by the local Punta Gorda Airport.

CCPS has received numerous awards and accolades for its excellence in education, including being recognized as a "District of the Year” by Cambridge Assessment International Education and receiving a "B” rating from the Florida Department of Education for the past several years. Additionally, many of the district's schools are recognized as "A" schools. The district is also known for its strong focus on STEM education, with many of its schools offering specialized programs in science, technology, engineering, and math. The district offers a wide variety of extracurricular activities, including sports, music, and clubs, to provide students a well-rounded education. 

At Charlotte County Public Schools, students are provided with the tools and support needed for success both academically and personally. We have successfully passed two (2) 1 millage tax referendums.

For the past 8 years, Stephen Dionisio has served as superintendent of CCPS and will retire this summer. As the district searches for its next leader, the Board seeks a superintendent who will accelerate the advancements made over past years and guide the district into the future. Our candidate must possess an eagerness to lead a high-achieving, forward-thinking diverse school district, and have a proven track record of cultivating a culture that supports the district’s vision and mission. Minimum Qualifications

  1. Master’s Degree earned from an accredited college or university.

  2. A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in education leadership in a district with 10,000 or more students.

  3. Knowledge of federal legislation and state statutes as they apply to school districts.

  4. Holds or is eligible for Florida Certification in Education Leadership, Administration and Supervision or School Principal or equivalent.

  5. Must be domiciled in Charlotte County within six months of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Three years of district level educational leadership experience

  2. Classroom and Principal public school experience

  3. Doctorate Degree from an accredited college or university

The School Board is prepared to offer up to a 3-year contract with a salary range of $175,000-$225,000 commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus competitive benefits. Candidates selected as finalists must be available for on-site interviews on May 4 and 5, 2023. The start date for this position is projected to be mid-June 2023.
