Our Communities
ALAS offers a suite of programs designed to empower and elevate Latino educational leaders. Our Superintendents Leadership Academy, National Principal Leadership Academy, and Women Superintendents Policy Leadership Academy provide transformative leadership development experiences. Our alumni networks, including the SLA Alumni Network and Leaders of Legacy Network, foster ongoing professional growth and support. Additionally, our affinity committees, such as the Linking Latina Leaders Network, Professional Growth and Leadership Development, and Networking for Knowledge Mobilization, offer valuable networking and professional development opportunities. Through our policy advocacy efforts, we strive to shape educational policies that advance equity and excellence for all students.

Superintendents Leadership Academy
The ALAS Superintendents Leadership Academy (SLA) signature program addresses the need to recruit, mentor, and prepare the next generation of superintendents who serve Latino communities, while promoting the advancement of Latino leaders. ALAS SLA Program continues to be the premier leadership academy in the nation, due to its competitive and balanced cohort selection of candidates.

National Principal Leadership Academy
The National Principal Leadership Academy supports the leadership development of aspiring and novice principals.
The curriculum and assignments will be equity-centric for leading staff and serving our marginalized and students of color.

SLA Alumni Network
The SLA Alumni Network, born from ten years of informal gatherings, connects 137 graduates from 11 cohorts of the ALAS Superintendents Leadership Academy. This network is more than a group of colleagues; it's a community dedicated to continuous learning and improvement. The network leverages the "Problem of Practice" framework, a core component of the SLA curriculum, to address pressing educational challenges, especially those affecting Black and Brown youth.

Leaders of Legacy Network
Graduates of the Superintendents Leadership Academy (SLA) program are provided a mentor and graduates of the National Principal Leadership Academy (NPLA) are provided a coach for one (1) year upon attainment of their first position in either the principalship or superintendency as a member benefit.

Linking Latina Leaders Network (L3)
The Linking Latina Leadership Network focus on current and relevant practices through book studies, guest speakers, and professional development opportunities. The work of the Linking Latina Leaders and their strategic Partner(s) is a critical component to the success and advancement for the female leaders of today and tomorrow.

Professional Growth and Leadership Development Affinity Committee
Our professional learning programs are designed and focused on research and perspective of Latino leadership to strengthen the skills of all aspiring administrators, principals, central office administrators and superintendents who serve our historically marginalized, Latino and Black youth.

Our Policy advocacy focus is to actively seek educational policies that influence and Latino, Black and historically marginalized perspectives to ensure high standards of equity and quality in our public education system.
