We work to help educators, schools, and school systems expand access to opportunities for students. We’re focused on ensuring the work of our public education systems create pathways for students, especially those experiencing poverty, to achieve social and economic mobility.

What You’ll Do
As a member of the Leadership Team, the Vice President plays a critical role in setting vision, strategy, and growing TNTP’s work in their Region. The Vice President will report to the Executive Vice President, Consulting and expand the portfolio of TNTP’s projects in the region and set the vision, goals and culture for those projects. The Vice President will lead work across the spectrum of TNTP’s portfolio including talent, academics and environments that foster student success, will identify new areas of support based on emerging needs and pockets of success; spot innovations to keep TNTP as a leading-edge support provider; and actively bridge the work of education systems to ensure students achieve social and economic mobility

We expect our Vice Presidents to:

  • Possess a breadth and depth of knowledge about the current state of critical issues in education. You make it a point to stay current on best practices and innovative approaches in education, and you’re not afraid to leverage different schools of thought or develop entirely new approaches to meet the needs of your partners, even if it means challenging the status quo.  You understand the current landscape and are constantly looking ahead and forward-thinking about what’s to come, and how our strategies should evolve accordingly.  You also have the knowledge and skills to balance the current educational landscape against our emerging north star of economic and social mobility.

  • Have a vision for what’s possible for students, how our work can improve outcomes for students at scale and motivate a large team toward that vision. You’re a strategy setter who can generate innovative and nuanced solutions to our partners’ most complex challenges, provide strategic vision, anticipate challenges, and assess the effectiveness of our work. You have, and can invest others, in a vision for a portfolio of consulting services aligned to TNTP’s mission and current/future strategic plan that will help us and our partners achieve our goals for students. You consider the political, economic and social context of our partners, and adjust the delivery of our work as needed.

  • Develop strong relationships internally and externally. You’re energized by the opportunity to share TNTP’s mission, build relationships and work alongside internal and external partners. You believe that our best work can only be done through engaging diverse perspectives and are intentional about seeking out and expanding opportunities with local partners. You will seize opportunities to compellingly represent TNTP’s work with both external partners and across TNTP.

  • Lead business development strategy and expand TNTP’s work in the Southeast region. You understand and consider external conditions that affect the organization’s work, actively advocate for change, and successfully lead sales efforts with new and existing partners throughout the Southeast that align to strategic priorities, ensuring we meet budget and revenue targets. You have a strong external network and can build relationships and identify options for new sources of funding for TNTP at the local and national levels.

  • Motivate and influence others to act. We’re counting on your ability to develop strong relationships with senior-level district, state, charter management organizations and community partners throughout the Southeast region and utilize those relationships to build TNTP’s presence and forge new partnerships for our work.

  • Ensure our continued growth by closely stewarding our core resources, including people, time, money, portfolio of services, client relationships and our national reputation.

  • Lead with an asset-based and equity-centered approach.  You have a strong understanding and prior experience with equity-based, asset-oriented, and culturally responsive practices, and use them as foundational lenses of your leadership.

  • Model Cross-Cultural Agility.  Authentic self-reflection, self-awareness, and high emotional intelligence are central to who you are, and you utilize these skills to shape a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion, that influences how you think about your work.  You have an adept cultural understanding of yourself and use your understanding of yourself and others to build trusting relationships with direct reports, colleagues, and clients.

  • Champion Your People. One of your greatest responsibilities and privileges will be to hire, grow and develop staff working on regional projects in your portfolio and ensure they have an inclusive and supportive work environment that reflects TNTP’s culture and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. And you are skilled in managing staff towards their goals through multiple layers given the Managing Partner structure of the Southeast.

  • Balance Regional and Organizational Leadership. You’ll lead your region toward your goals and priorities while operating as a leader of the Consulting Division and TNTP. You’ll thoughtfully navigate tensions between what is best for a region, for the division, and for the organization. You recognize your role and your Management Team’s role in maintaining a culture of One TNTP and will lead with that frame in mind. You’ll be comfortable with the balance required to maintain strategic regional autonomy alongside consistency when needed.
