The Bedford Central School District (BCSD) is seeking an outstanding leader to be our next superintendent of schools.
We are a diverse seven-school public district located in Westchester County, an easy drive or train ride away from New York City. The district serves Mount Kisco, Bedford, Bedford Hills, Pound Ridge, and portions of New Castle and North Castle, NY. We have five elementary schools (Bedford Hills Elementary, Bedford Village Elementary, Mount Kisco Elementary, Pound Ridge Elementary, and West Patent Elementary), one middle school (Fox Lane Middle School), and one high school (Fox Lane High School) and serve approximately 4,000 students.
Our mission is to cultivate curiosity and a passion for learning by providing challenging educational opportunities for all students so they can achieve their full potential as productive and contributing members of society. We believe in putting students first, always. We believe in inspiring and challenging our students through a curriculum that encourages them to create, and problem-solve, to know that they are each smart in different ways, to promote deep thinking, and to anchor and launch future learning. Each year, we create a new plan to guide us and work toward the goals of our overarching 5-year SUCCESS plan.

We are currently in the process of rolling out RULER implementation districtwide, a testament to our dedication to social-emotional learning.
We have a close Professional Development School relationship with Manhattanville College, which aims to improve student learning, prepare pre-service teachers for the profession, provide professional learning for our current teachers, and engage in research and inquiry into improving practice.
We are committed to a philosophy of inclusive practice that ensures all students are provided access and belonging throughout the school community.
We have been the recipient of the National Association of Music Merchants “Best Community in Music” Award multiple times.
We are proud of our 8-12 grade AVID (Advancement through Individual Determination) program, which targets capable but under-performing students and supports them with skills, strategies, and supports to access the highest levels of coursework and begin the college planning process early.
We have high participation in 22 different AP courses.
We partner with Project Lead The Way to offer robust technology and engineering courses to middle and high school students.
We are proud of our Science Research Program and its commitment to not only grow students’ research skills but their leadership skills as well. Our students participate in nationally recognized competitions.
Mount Kisco Elementary School is home to our Dual Language Bilingual Education program which follows a two-way, dual language, side-by-side, 50/50 immersion model.
West Patent Elementary School is recognized as a National School of Character because of its emphasis on service learning and on creating a school-wide culture of kindness.
