Curriculum Associates: Editorial Director Reading Spanish Reading/Language Arts
North Billerica, MA (a suburb of Boston); in our satellite office in Brooklyn NY, or remote.
As Editorial Director Reading Spanish Reading/Language Arts, you will be closely involved in conceptualizing and developing a new Spanish K2 Foundational Skills-focused program. We are looking for someone with deep knowledge of the dual language and bilingual education space who will provide strong editorial leadership and a creative vision. The ideal candidate is a lifelong learner who is collaborative, proactive, highly organized, and passionate about delivering high-quality instruction that will create successful readers and writers.
What you'll do:
• Inspire, supervise, and mentor an editorial staff. Convey to staff a sense of vision and direction by establishing clear, realistic goals and action plans;
• Drive the development process of a K–2 Student and Teacher Experiences from conception to published product, including:
• Creating prototypes and refining them based on customer and sales feedback;
• Creating and managing project schedules and budgets;
• Working collaboratively with design and production throughout the publishing process;
• Developing resource plans and guidelines;
• Recruiting and managing freelance editorial support and/or outside development houses;
• Anticipating and solving problems as they arise, including adjusting workflows and resource allocations, as well as creating work-arounds. Establish work processes aimed at continuous improvement in reduction of cycle time and quantity of output;
• Support marketing staff in generating key messages used in development of sales collateral and training materials for sales reps and educational consultants;
• Keep abreast of educational trends and competitive products by attending workshops and conferences, reading professional literature, and networking with educators and sales reps.
Who we're looking for:
• 7+ years managing the development of K-5 reading/language arts products—both student and teacher facing components;
• Deep experience in supporting the development of foundational reading skills in emergent bilingual learners.
• Experience conceptualizing Reading products at K–2, particularly teacher materials;
• Proven project management skills, attention to detail, and an ability to drive toward completion
• Experience planning, scheduling, budgeting, and supervising staff and/or vendors;
• A very hands-on approach; a willingness to contribute in detail to execution in order to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and editorial excellence;
• Excellent writing and editing skills in Spanish and English
• Ability to make informed and decisive decisions that will ensure successful execution of projects
