The Lincoln Intermediate Unit (LIU), one of 29 educational service agencies in Pennsylvania, is seeking an exceptional educational leader to be its next Executive Director. The LIU Board of Directors, comprised of 13 members representing the 25 school districts within the region, desires a dynamic and innovative candidate with a demonstrated commitment to successful student achievement and improved school performance who can drive the IU’s mission of supporting partners, customers, and students to realize their greatest potential through quality, innovative solutions and services. 

Candidates should have a strong working knowledge of the role of intermediate units with a proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with all IU stakeholders. In support of the LIU’s vision to be the provider of choice for comprehensive service, support and solutions, candidates must be customer-service oriented with the skills to anticipate and understand the needs of schools, large and small, and lead, through communication, collaboration and financial strategy, a staff of 1,100 in the development and implementation of valuable supports and solutions.

Headquartered in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, the Lincoln Intermediate Unit serves Adams, Franklin and York counties through the additional operation of campuses in Chambersburg, Abbottstown and York. Operating within a budget of approximately $130 million, LIU plays a pivotal role in supporting the region’s 25 school districts, 30 nonpublic schools, five charter schools and three career and technical schools. The LIU serves close to 17,000 students from preschool age to adult through the offering of preschool/early intervention, adult education, nonpublic school services, business services, educational services, special education, and educational technology services.

The LIU is offering a multiyear contract that features a regionally competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package. Candidates must possess, or be eligible for, a Pennsylvania Superintendent Letter of Eligibility. The target date for employment is January 3, 2025. The deadline for applications is July 22, 2024, and the review process and interviews will begin shortly thereafter.
