About the Position
Edmonds School District Principals develop and implement an effective learning program to improve student performance; continuously assess the learning program (including the curriculum), increase student performance outcomes and school climate; create a culturally responsive learning environment inclusive of diverse socioeconomic and ethnic groups' needs; develop and implement professional learning activities for the building staff; create a collaborative learning environment; provide instructional leadership; promote high expectations, performance, and achievement from students and staff; lead shared decision making and teamwork; maintain a positive school climate; establish and maintain effective communication with the community, parents, building staff and central office staff; supervise and evaluate assigned staff; manage the maintenance and use of the physical plant to facilitate the educational program; manage the budget activities for the building following District guidelines and procedures; and participate in District-level decision-making and articulation activities.
Brier Terrace Middle School (BTMS) is a middle school serving 670 students in grades 7-8. The school strives to create a positive learning environment which enhances and nurtures the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of young adolescents. The 5 - P's - polite, prepared, prompt, productive, and proud - are emphasized at our school and taught and demonstrated throughout our school by students and staff.
BTMS staff works to ensure that all students experience measurable growth in their learning and understanding of core subjects, and provide additional student support and encouragement, while maintaining rigor for all students. BTMS staff works toward all students demonstrating proficiency in reading, writing, and math through a variety of means. They are further developing a continuum of support for struggling learners and are embedding key instructional techniques into all coursework. Teachers are also learners.
This position begins the 2024-25 school year. Start date is July 1, 2024.
Required Qualifications:
Master's Degree and valid Washington State Principal's Credential for the secondary level.
Previous school administration and/or teaching experience at the elementary level.
The ability to work, support, and communicate effectively with students, families, and school personnel from diverse cultures and/or backgrounds.
Equity minded leader who is a strong communicator.
Knowledge and understanding of the use of an instructional framework to guide instructional practices.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual English/Spanish or multilingual.

Middle School Principal Salary: $174,958 to $186,957 per year, depending on education credits
