SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

Qualifications - Internal

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) policies and procedures, the Call to Action Plan, the Program of Studies, and state and federal regulations and laws. Thorough knowledge of curriculum, instruction, organizational patterns, school operations, and pupil services. Demonstrated competence in staff selection, training, supervision and evaluation. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to act effectively under stress. Ability to motivate, encourage, and work with staff to ensure outstanding performance as well as good morale. Excellent oral and written communication skills . Excellent interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in supervision, educational administration and secondary school curriculum. Doctorate desirable. Minimum of 5 years in teaching, administration or supervision of which at least 3 years must have been teaching in a secondary school classroom. Completion of administrative internship program and/or experience as an assistant principal desirable. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

Position Description

As the School Principal, we see you as the educational leader and administrator of the school. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We want someone who has knowledge of and experience leading a school community guided by:

  • Principles of child, early adolescent, and education psychology;

  • California Core Curriculum and Content Standards and 21st century curriculum;

  • Equity-centered professional learning communities;

  • Culturally and linguistically responsive pedagogy;

  • Assets/Strength-based models of education through behavioral and academic Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2) approaches;

Bridgeport, with a population of 149,000, is the state’s largest city. RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Provides in-person effective instructional leadership to the school community.

  7. Manages all staff orientation processes. 

  8. Manages and edits all communication. 

  9. Manages all building security and staff procedures, including evacuation and emergency plans. 

  10. Co-supervises custodial services within the building maintenance team. 

  11. Interprets policies related to faculty, staff and students. 

  12. Responds to and resolves complaints and grievances of students, staff and parents. 

  13. Develops building objectives and procedures to facilitate the delivery of programs, student discipline, scheduling and recordkeeping. 

  14. Supervises athletic events, evening school functions, and attends school-related community events.
