Principal

The Allentown, PA School District serves approximately 16,600 students in three high schools, four middle schools and 15 elementary schools. The district is the third largest urban school district in Pennsylvania and is located in the Lehigh Valley. William Allen High School is the district’s largest high school serving approximately 2,500 students in grades 9 through 12. The school serves a diverse population of students from the center city and west side of Allentown.

The richness of the Allentown School District’s diversity is strengthened by its role in educating all students for America’s future through academic excellence and celebrating the culturally responsive, athletic, and artistic range of talent in the schools. ASD students originate from 51 countries and speak 26 languages.

Approximately 89% of the school districts families are denoted as low income and 100% receive free and reduced lunch.

Responsibility 

William Allen High School principal is responsible for:

  • Providing a high-quality educational program that meets the needs of all students

  • Delivering strong administrative planning, maintenance, and evaluation within established district policies

  • Promoting the educational development of each student and the professional growth of a talented staff

  • Overseeing the operation of the school facilities

  • Participating in staff and student activities throughout the school year

  • Working and collaborating with the Allentown community in support of success for all students

Successful candidate expected Leadership Experiences and Accomplishments:

  • Demonstrated successful secondary school leadership experience preferably in a complex culturally diverse urban environment

  • Have or be immediately eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Principal (75) certification

  • Fluency in Spanish would be advantageous

Compensation

Salary in the range of $158,000 depending upon qualifications, experience, and credentials and subject to negotiations. Benefits similar to other district employees, Board policies, applicable Pennsylvania Statutes and subject to negotiation.
