The Board of Education of the Moorestown Township Pre-K-12 School District, Moorestown, New Jersey is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position as early as January 1, 2025, and no later than July 1, 2025.

McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.

Location: Moorestown Township School District, Moorestown, New Jersey; 17 miles NE of Philadelphia

Position Overview:

The Superintendent of Schools will serve as the Moorestown Township Pre-K-12 School District's chief executive officer, overseeing all aspects of the district’s operations. This individual will lead the district in the expansion of our programs, including the implementation of full-day kindergarten and the realignment of our existing K-8 schools contingent on the successful passing of a planned referendum. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of educational leadership, a deep commitment to academic excellence, and a strong ability to engage with the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide visionary leadership to promote the district’s mission, goals, and objectives.

  • Lead the potential realignment of the existing K-8 school system to enhance educational outcomes.

  • Ensure continued academic excellence and high performance of all schools within the district.

  • Manage the district’s financial resources effectively and efficiently.

  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and fosters respect.

  • Oversee the successful implementation of full-day kindergarten programs.

  • Stay informed about current educational trends, policies, and best practices to ensure the district remains at the forefront of educational innovation.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • A master’s degree in education, educational administration, or a related field (doctorate preferred).

  • Valid New Jersey School Administrator Certification.

  • A minimum of five years of successful administrative experience in a school district or educational setting.

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale educational initiatives and projects.

  • Strong understanding of curriculum development, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.

  • An experienced leader who is visionary and can develop leadership capacity, with a focus on a leadership pipeline, ensuring success for years to come.

  • A visible, community-oriented professional who can commit to Moorestown, its highly reputable schools and community.

  • A communicative professional who collaborates with the Board, is visible in the community, and keeps stakeholders informed.

  • An educational leader with excellent pedagogy, a cultural focus, and the ability to improve underperformance in all areas including those populations who may be underserved.

  • A quick learner who is innovative, adaptable, and willing to find creative workarounds and solutions to challenges.

Salary: Regionally competitive salary based upon experience and qualifications

Search Timeline: Subject to Revision

  • Closing date for applications: August 8, 2024 (11:59 p.m. central time)

  • Board of Education selects candidates: August 26, 2024

  • Finalist interviews: September 18 & 19, 2024

  • Selection of new Superintendent: early October 2024

  • Start date: as early as January 1, 2025, and no later than July 1, 2025
