Ardsley Union Free School District - Ardsley, New York

District Overview

The Ardsley Union Free School District (the “District”) is located in Ardsley, NY, an incorporated village within the Town of Greenburgh, located approximately ten miles north of New York City.  The District encompasses the entire Village of Ardsley, along with portions of several nearby communities, including Dobbs Ferry, Hastings-on-Hudson, White Plains, and unincorporated Greenburgh.  The small but diverse community represents a range of ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds and includes many working class and business professionals, along with small business owners and public sector workers.  They share a commitment to high quality education, strong community ties, and recreational activities.

The District consists of approximately 2,300 students across three schools: Concord Road School (K-4), Ardsley Middle School (5-8), and Ardsley High School (9-12).  The District is nationally recognized for its tradition of academic excellence and is ranked by Niche as one of the top 25 school districts in New York and one of the top 10 districts in Westchester County.  As part of the District’s mission, we seek to build on this long-standing tradition by cultivating passionate learners and informed global citizens who actively influence their world.  The District boasts a 98% 4-year high school graduation rate, as well as a 99% college attendance rate.  Over the past several years, the District has typically garnered 75% support for its proposed budget ($81.9 million for 2023-24), featuring a tax levy below the maximum allowable amount while maintaining a healthy fund balance and a strong (Aa1) bond rating.

The District seeks to provide every student with a well-rounded educational experience through a rich suite of curricular and extracurricular offerings, clubs and activities, athletic and arts programs, and academic competitions.  We also seek to ensure we are meeting the individual needs of our diverse community of learners through a robust system of services, supports, and personnel.

Among our notable programs, initiatives, and offerings are:

  • An articulated K-12 sequence in science, engineering, and computer science, including Project Lead the Way curriculum and a renowned Science Research program at Ardsley High School;

  • Initiatives to support social-emotional learning for all students, including working with the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence’s RULER project;

  • A commitment to educational equity through our work with the Framework for Culturally Responsive and Sustaining Education, and our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) approach to instructional interventions;

  • College-level and credit-eligible course offerings, including 20 Advanced Placement courses as well as programs through Cambridge University, Syracuse University, and SUNY Albany;

  • A world language program offering eligibility for the New York State Seal of Biliteracy;

  • Over 20 athletic offerings throughout the academic year across the varsity, junior varsity, and modified (7th and 8th grade) levels; and
