Superintendent
Duval County Public Schools - Jacksonville, Florida
Duval County Public Schools is the 20th largest school district in the nation, educating more than 127,000 students in more than 200 schools, including charter schools. Primarily serving the city of Jacksonville, the largest city by landmass in the continental U.S., the district is highly diverse with schools in urban, suburban, and rural communities. The district has enjoyed a long season of improvement with its graduation rate increasing more than 20 percentage points since 2010. Additionally, the district is commonly recognized among top performing districts in the nation through the NAEP Trial Urban District Assessment program. In 2022, the district landed in the top five in grade four and grade eight reading, as well as grade four math. The district was seventh in the nation in grade eight math. In addition to academic success, the district places a strong emphasis on college acceleration and career readiness. A robust dual enrollment program enables many students to graduate with an associate’s degree before high school graduation, and more than 60 career academies spread among all high schools and many middle schools enable students to earn industry certifications and begin building a resume for long-term success. The community is strongly invested in the district. Two recent local referenda met the approval of voters, and hundreds of business and faith-based partnerships support the day-to-day success of Duval County Public Schools students.
