The Gardner Edgerton USD 231, Gardner, Kansas, Board of Education, is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2022.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.
Enrollment: 6,000
Location: 30 miles south of Kansas City
The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in Educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a Superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make.
The Gardner Edgerton School District seeks a superintendent who:
Is a collaborative team builder with a successful record of being visible and active throughout the schools and community. The successful candidate will preferably have had experience with all levels of K-12 education and a proven record of advocating for marginalized and under-represented students.
Is an excellent communicator with a passion for public education. The candidate will be a motivator and developer of staff who will foster and strengthen trust within the district and throughout the community.
Will be approachable and transparent as well as genuinely interested in listening to and learning from others, particularly during the decision-making process.
Will be visible, involved in the community and district, and will make all decisions based on what is in the best interests of students. Experience with strategic planning and the ability to implement the plan as well as a sincere desire and commitment to work with and keep the Board of Education informed are all necessary qualities.
