The ROCKVILLE CENTRE SCHOOL DISTRICT
Located on the south shore of Long Island in Nassau County, New York, is seeking a Superintendent of Schools.
The 3,600 students in the Rockville Centre School District are enrolled in 5 elementary schools, 1 middle school and 1 high school. The district, which serves a very diversified student body, has a long tradition of high-achieving students and a community that is very supportive of the school district and its students. Stakeholders are committed to excellence, to a student-centered philosophy, and to enhancing an already successful school district and community.
The Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre is located approximately twenty miles from New York City. It is a thriving community with a variety of restaurants, retail stores, and a Long Island Railroad station with trains to/from New York City. The school district serves the students who live in the Incorporated Village of Rockville Centre and also some students who live in South Hempstead.
The schools in the district have achieved recognition for excellence. The high school, Southside High School, is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Schools of Opportunity Gold Award winner, and recognized nationally by the media as among the best in the nation. Individual students, musicians and athletic teams have all be recognized for their achievements.
The Board of Education is seeking a leader who can build upon the district's many accomplishments while respecting the school and community cultures and its student-centered vision.

A school administrator who appropriately engages all members of the school community in problem solving and decision making
A visionary educational leader who is highly visible in the schools and classrooms as well as at school and community events
A transparent and responsive leader who is able to help board members reach consensus in setting positive direction for the district
A decision maker who is not reactionary but who follows decisions through to implementation
An eloquent and effective communicator with all members of the school community, demonstrating superior skills of writing, speaking, and listening
The Board of Education is offering a regionally-competitive compensation package. New York State certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader is required for appointment.
