The Westerville City Schools (WCSD) Board of Education seeks an exceptional educational leader to serve as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools beginning on October 1, 2023, or as soon after that as possible.

WCSD is located in central Ohio and enjoys a history of being recognized by the Ohio Department of Education as a high-performing district. Serving a culturally and economically diverse 52-square-mile area in northeastern Franklin and southern Delaware counties, WCSD educates approximately 14,500 students. The district operates 15 elementary schools, four middle schools, three high schools, an Early Learning Center, and an Academic Enrichment Center. While the City of Westerville is home to approximately 35,000 residents, the school district’s boundaries include eight political jurisdictions and about 91,000 residents.  

All three district high schools have been identified by Newsweek magazine as being among the best high schools in America and earned the “What Parents Want” in education designation from SchoolMatch. The district offers Advanced Placement courses; a high school International Baccalaureate program; elementary magnet schools; service learning opportunities; Career Pathways in business logistics, engineering, and health careers; active business partnerships; and specialized programs that meet the needs of nearly 2,000 special needs students, 3,300 gifted students and 1,600 English as a Second Language students. 

The City of Westerville is located just miles from the state capital of Columbus. The community is diverse, thriving and is often highly ranked on the list of the best places to live in the United States. The city is also home to Otterbein University. Westerville enjoys a thriving corporate community and has many successful businesses, such as JPMorgan Chase, Worthington Cylinder, Cheryl’s Cookies, Alliance Data, OhioHealth, and St. Ann’s Hospital. 

Specific desired leadership characteristics and qualifications are expected to be available and posted on or around June 1, 2023. Candidates must have or be eligible for an Ohio Professional Superintendent License.  A multi-year contract will be offered. The salary is in the range of $250,000 depending on actual qualifications, experience, and subject to negotiations. All interested candidates should apply through the link on this website.
