The Burlington-Edison School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time 7th/8th Science teacher beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. The District is located in Skagit County, Washington, and approximately 70 miles north of Seattle on the I-5 corridor. The enrollment of the K-8 school is approximately 640 students.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES:

  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the physical, psychological and social characteristics of middle school-age students.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective classroom environment conducive to productive learning.

  • Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive classroom community where each student belongs.

  • High degree of flexibility, scholarship, organizational skills and enthusiasm for profession and commitment to student accomplishments.

  • Commitment to communicating effectively and inclusively in multicultural settings.

  • Knowledge of the Washington State/Common Core Standards, and State Assessment. 

  • Knowledge of or amenable to learn, use and integrate the district’s technology strategies, systems and curriculum software programs as well as demonstrate knowledge of and integrate the District’s Technology Competencies.

  • High degree of commitment to a continuing program of personal and professional growth.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.

  • Ability to pass Federal/State criminal history background clearance and all other mandated clearances.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Successfully plan and implement best instructional practices so each student thrives academically and social-emotionally.

  • Support student agency and belonging by providing lessons and learning connected to the interest and backgrounds of students.

  • Utilize feedback, respond to data, and administer assessment to continually improve student outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively as a member of a building team and communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary in accordance with current negotiated salary agreement.

  • Medical, dental and other benefits are available from approved plans based on SEBB requirements.

  • This position is part of the local bargaining association.
