Director of Student Support Services
Champlain Valley School District seeks an outstanding leader to serve as Director of Student Support Services. The Director will oversee Student Support Services at its five elementary/middle schools (Allen Brook School, Charlotte Central School, Hinesburg Community School, Shelburne Community School, and Williston Central School) and Champlain Valley Union High School. Champlain Valley School District is a student-focused organization with a strong educational team and growth mindset. CVSD implements a strong multi-tiered system of support in each of its schools; the Director collaborates with building and district level leadership to ensure an inclusive, evidence based system of supports for all learners.
This position will start July 1, 2022.
Qualifications:
-Master’s Degree
-Holds or is eligible for VT Teacher Licensure with minimum 3 years experience
-Holds or is eligible for VT Administrator License, 2 years administrative experience preferred
-Demonstrates extensive working knowledge of the special education process, laws, and instructional strategies
-Demonstrates an understanding of all aspects of a student support services department, including Coordinated Early Intervention, Essential Early Education, psychological services, homeless coordination, and other related services.
-Demonstrates strong planning and organizational skills
-Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills
-Demonstrates strong and compassionate leadership
Responsibilities:
-Direct the overall administration of the Student Support Services Programs within the School District, with the assistance of school-based Special Education Coordinators, campus principals, and Central Office Administrators and Staff
-Manage various grants related to Student Support Services Department
-Communicate with and participate collaboratively with leadership teams
-Meet and collaborate regularly with Director of Learning and Innovation, Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Superintendent
-Support district-wide initiatives including, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, Differentiated Instruction, Co-Teaching, Data-Driven Decision Making, and Positive Behavior Supports and Interventions
-Oversees district-wide coordination of school counseling services, school-based health services, homeless & migrant education, occupational & physical therapy services, psychological services and prevention programming
-Assists in the development, implementation, evaluation of the district’s strategic plan
