Highline seeks a dynamic, highly visible, collaborative new leader to continue building upon the district’s progress in addressing equity goals, improving learning outcomes for all students, growing community partnerships and adapting to the challenges and opportunities the pandemic has created. The next superintendent will have culturally relevant experience and consistently engage with students, families and community members in each of the five communities served by Highline. Highline desires a leader dedicated to transparency and openness who consistently and actively seeks input from stakeholders to inform decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Administrative and senior level leadership experience in K-12 public education
Experience as a classroom teacher and school level administrator
Successful track record working with districts similar in size and diversity
Proven experience working collaboratively with employee unions/associations
Record of working with an elected or appointed School Board, or similar body
Experience with strategic plan development and implementation, reflecting the values and needs of the district, including budgeting, development and oversight of long-term fiscal and facilities planning
Willing to make a long-term commitment to Highline Public Schools

Highline Public Schools (HPS) serves more than 17,500 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac and White Center in Washington State. The community is rich in diversity with a flourishing arts community, delightful restaurants, and a wide range of events and festivals. With SeaTac International Airport part of the district, and Seattle just 15 minutes to the north, Highline is located in the heart of the Puget Sound region with easy access to Mt.
