SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

DEDHAM PUBLIC SCHOOLS, MASSACHUSETTS

The School Committee of the Dedham Public Schools invites innovative and highly qualified candidates to apply for the position of Superintendent of Schools.

Dedham is a diverse suburban community of 25,000 residents located in eastern Massachusetts, adjacent to Boston. The town borders Needham, Canton, and Westwood and has served as the county seat for Norfolk County since 1793. Dedham is home to America's first tax-supported, free public school with municipal governance through a representative Town Meeting and a five-member elected Board of Selectmen. Dedham’s schools are overseen by a seven-member elected School Committee.

The Dedham community is active in supporting its schools and takes pride in the array of programs offered and the achievements of its students. Dedham Public Schools is committed to education where high-quality outcomes and opportunities are available to every student, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity of expression, religion, national origin, language, disability, or socio-economic status

The Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 Dedham Public School District serves approximately 2,570 students in seven public schools.  The average class size is under 20.

•   Dedham High School (Grades 9-12):  enrollment 708

•   Dedham Middle School (Grades 6-8):  enrollment 577

•   Avery Elementary School Grades 1-5):  enrollment 289

•   Oakdale Elementary School (Grades 1-5):  enrollment 246

•   Greenlodge Elementary School (Grades 1-5):  enrollment 246

•   Riverdale Elementary School (Grades 1-5):  enrollment 169

•   Early Childhood Education Center (Grades PreK-K):  enrollment 335
