The Board of Trustees of the Missoula County Public Schools, Missoula, Montana, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position, July 1, 2023.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Trustees in identifying and screening the candidates.
Enrollment: 14,218 students
Location: 120 miles west of Helena
The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board developed the following desired characteristics.
Possess patient and effective listening and communication skills, and the ability to build consensus and promote transparency among all constituents.
Be calm, decisive, and unafraid to respectfully and compassionately lead staff, the board, employee groups, students, and the community in creating data-based change with a student-first focus.
Be passionate about public education with an understanding of education in states similar to Montana; and have the ability to lead the development of strategies and programs designed to ensure that students achieve to their greatest potential.
Have a commitment to equity that leads to measurable action which supports student growth.
Be an honest and admired visionary leader that is passionate, attentive, visible, accessible, communicative, innovative, and family focused.
