The Olean City School District (NY) Board of Education is seeking an educational leader with a strong record of accomplishments as an administrator and teacher.
The Board has identified the following as the most desirable characteristics for the next Superintendent:
Measurable success as an administrator (central office administrator and/or principal) and teacher; superintendent experience preferred
Desire and proven ability to positively interact with stakeholders; strong engagement with schools and community required
Holds self and others accountable
Leads with a focus on what is best for students
Effective communicator
Strategic leader committed to continuous improvement
Experience in contract administration/labor relations
Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Leadership experience outside of PK-12 education
NYS SDA/SDL certificate required

Improving academic programs and student outcomes
Effective strategic planning
The Board will strongly consider the input provided by stakeholder groups and obtained from the online survey throughout the selection process.
The Olean City SD, with a current enrollment of 1949 students, is located in rural Western New York about 70 miles south of Buffalo NY. The District has two PK-3 schools, an intermediate school, and high school. It enjoys partnerships/relationships with St. Bonaventure University, SUNY Fredonia, Jamestown Community College, Cattaraugus County, Cattaraugus-Allegany BOCES, and the YMCA. The high school offers 26 courses where students can earn college and/or AP credit and a strong interscholastic sports program. The intermediate school supports the integrated co-teaching model for students with special needs. The elementary schools offer robust math and reading programs and are in the process of becoming Leader in Me schools. There is an abundance of nearby recreational opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, skiing, and golf. Several institutions for higher learning are within easy commuting distance.
Salary: Regionally competitive depending on experience and qualifications
Anticipated Start Date: August 1, 2022
