The School Board for the Caddo Parish Public Schools, Shreveport, Louisiana, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position in November 2024.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the School Board in identifying and screening the candidates.

The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board seeks a Superintendent who possesses the following leadership and personal qualities:
Visionary Leader: The superintendent should be a visionary, creative and committed leader who will take the time to learn the district and get to know all stakeholders. The superintendent must develop a plan to compete with alternative educational offerings to move all schools and students to proficiency. The superintendent must love and advocate for all children and be of the highest integrity and character while demonstrating a passion for education and be a team builder among all stakeholders.
Communicator: The new superintendent must be an excellent and effective communicator who is professional and communicates well not only with the board but also with all audiences including community, staff members, students, and patrons. Communication is key to success and without communication there will be a lack of trust, therefore, the superintendent must be inclusive of the diverse stakeholders who make up the Caddo Parish Public Schools.
Problem Solver: The new superintendent must be confident in decision making and willing to solve problems by addressing a multitude of challenges and will successfully collaborate, prioritize, delegate, and lead the Caddo Parish Public Schools in a positive direction. The new superintendent must possess strategic planning skills, setting long-term goals and outlining the specific steps needed to achieve them.
Courage: Given the challenges facing Caddo Parish, from declining enrollment to decreasing finances, the next superintendent must have the courage to make hard decisions necessary to correct deficiencies in the district. The new superintendent must have successful experience in an urban district with turn-around schools and the courage to address issues in each school and at the district level.
Bridge-builder: Given the diversity within the Caddo community, be it race, income, educational attainment or religious beliefs, the new superintendent must understand the differences and work to find common interests to build a positive culture and ensure equitable educational experiences for all the students in Caddo. The new superintendent must be a people person focusing on public relations and be active in the community to build relationships with all stakeholders to provide opportunities for growth for the district.
Background: It is the desire that a new superintendent will have a terminal degree with a strong academic background; policy development experience and knowledge; and a clear understanding of the budget and financial matters. The new superintendent must be transparent in all issues and decisions related to the district to build trust.
