The Powhatan County Public Schools Board of Education is seeking a highly qualified and fully certified Superintendent. Powhatan County is a rural/suburban community encompassing 271 square miles and the district is composed of one high school, one middle school and three elementary schools. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position on or before July 1, 2022.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the School Board in identifying and screening the candidates.
Enrollment: 4,300
Location: Twenty-five miles west of Richmond, Virginia
Salary: Regionally competitive salary based upon experience and qualifications
The Qualifications
The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. Experience as a superintendent or central office leadership position required. Doctorate and the willingness to live in the community is preferred. Virginia certification required. The Board developed the following desired characteristics:

A strong advocate for public education with high integrity who champions discipline, demonstrates superior ethics and integrity and holds beliefs and values that are aligned with our community.
An educational leader who is visible in the community and demonstrates the willingness to spend time in the schools, knows staff members by name and the job they perform.
