The Board of Education of the Baltimore County Public Schools, Towson, Maryland, is seeking a highly qualified, fully certified, educational leader to serve as Superintendent. The Board wishes to have the successful candidate assume the responsibilities of the position July 1, 2023.
McPherson & Jacobson, L.L.C., Executive Recruitment and Development, has been engaged as the consultant in a search for outstanding candidates. They will assist the Board of Education in identifying and screening the candidates.
Enrollment: 111,000 students
Location: just outside Washington DC

The candidate must have the background, skills, and abilities essential for excellence in educational leadership. The Board recognizes that selecting a superintendent is one of the most important decisions it will make. The Board developed the following desired characteristics.
The Baltimore County Public Schools is seeking a superintendent that can demonstrate:
Successful experience in an urban or suburban district with evidence of visionary leadership and an unwavering focus on improving educational opportunities and outcomes for ALL students, with particular attention on those that have been underserved.
Understanding of the uniqueness and diversity of Baltimore County and possessing the ability and presence to motivate, engage and inspire all district stakeholders in pursuit of the district mission.
Courageous and bold leadership with the ability to work collaboratively with the board and staff to meet district challenges such as equitable resource allocation and management, zero-based budgeting, and developing, empowering and entrusting system leaders.
Evidence of effective communication skills and strategies to engage all district stakeholders, including local, state and national policymakers in a highly transparent manner.
Extensive experience as a results driven instructional leader with a successful record of implementing research-based curricula and pedagogy to improve academic outcomes.
Salary: Commensurate with experience.
